Just like the astronaut, floated out in space, surrounded by the endless darkness and silence of the cosmos, so was I, on this fateful day, lost in thoughts, thinking about my life, how I will make mama proud, what have I not done to be successful yet it looks as though life is not fair to me, how will I eventually be a man and a man of my woman’s dream, series of pictures flying through my mind but couldn’t hold on to any. These thoughts lingered for hours, days, weeks and months. But you know what, I realized that I have no control over whatever happened, is happening or will happen. Then I remember the saying of the wise one that said, “let life flow, don’t force it”.
In a world that often glorifies hustle and ambition, the idea of “letting life flow” can feel counterintuitive. We are conditioned to believe that success and happiness come from relentless effort and control. However, there is a profound beauty in abstaining from the need to force every outcome and instead allowing life to unfold consequentially. This approach not only reduces stress but also cultivates a sense of inner peace and contentment.
When we force things, we often create resistance and friction. Imagine a river, when we try to redirect its course or dam its flow, we disrupt its natural rhythm. Similarly, when we force events, relationships, or opportunities, we might in all Innocence disrupt the organic flow of life. Instead, by being open and adaptable, we allow space for unexpected opportunities and experiences to emerge.
Virtually everyone is caught up in the web of what tomorrow holds. Have we forgotten that as children, we existed without thoughts, yet we grew without comprehending the process? Many times, we imagine things to be as they are not. Que Sera Sera, ‘whatever will be will be’. Living by this approach, will reduce stress and anxiety, nurturing a sense of calm amidst life’s chaos.
Letting life flow doesn’t mean we are giving up on our ambitions or becoming passive. It is all about finding a balance between effort and surrender. It involves setting intentions and taking inspired actions, while also acknowledging that some elements are beyond our control. This mindset shift can lead to more meaningful connections, improved mental well-being, and a greater sense of fulfillment.
Practicing mindfulness and being present are essential in this journey. By tuning into the present moment, we learn to differentiate between what is within our control and what is not. Trusting that things will fall into place when the time is right can be liberating, leading to more authentic decisions and connections. Although relying on life’s timing can be difficult, it frequently results in outcomes that harmonize with our genuine aspirations and journeys.
In essence, “letting life flow” is an invitation to release the grip of control and dance with the rhythm of existence. It is a reminder that the most beautiful moments often arise when we least expect them. By allowing life to carry us forward, we tap into a current of grace and opportunity that can lead us to places we never imagined. Life is always happening for you, not to you, embrace this truth and your entire world will shift.
