Ignore the Crow, Just Soar Higher

I

The crow is the only bird in the world that dares attack an eagle. It perches on the eagle’s back and pecks its neck. However, the eagle doesn’t waste time to respond or fight back nor expend any energy on it. Instead, the eagle opens its wings and starts to fly as high as possible. The higher the eagle flies, the harder it becomes for the crow to breathe. Eventually, the crow will fall off due to lack of oxygen.

In the vast expanse of life’s journey, we often encounter hurdles and obstacles that seem as daunting as a crow pecking our necks. These crows represent the negative voices, self-doubt, and criticism that can hold us back from reaching our full potential. However, the key to true success and fulfilment lies in our ability to ignore these crows and soar higher, transcending the limitations they impose.

The first step towards soaring higher is cultivating self-belief. Just as an eagle glides through the skies with unwavering confidence, we, too, must trust in our abilities and inner strength. Embracing a positive mindset and affirming that our capabilities empower us to conquer challenges with resilience and determination.

It is, therefore, crucial to surround ourselves with a supportive network of individuals who believe in our dreams because the company we keep greatly impacts our outlook on life. Seek out mentors, friends, and family who encourage and uplift, helping us rise above the negativity.

Another essential aspect of soaring higher is learning from our failures. I often term failure as a beginning of a new thing, not an end to everything. Each setback is an opportunity for growth and self-discovery, and then you launch again. By viewing failures as stepping stones rather than stumbling blocks, we can adapt, improve, and push ourselves further towards success, simply because nothing happens to a man by chance. Own up to your faults, take responsibility and see yourself at the top again.

Comparison is the crow’s favourite tool to hinder progress. A crow and an eagle are both birds, but their potential are distinct. We must remember that our journey is unique, and comparing ourselves to others will only hamper our growth. Instead, let’s focus on personal growth and progress, celebrating each milestone.

A Yoruba proverb says, and I quote, “if you listen to the noise of the market, you won’t buy anything” This simply means that we should focus on what is paramount, not distraction. In lieu of this, when we learn to ignore the crows and focus on the horizon, we unlock our true potential, discovering newfound heights of success and fulfilment.

So, spread your wings and soar high – the sky is your limit. Fly!
